Welcome!

President Gordon B. Hinckley said . . . "You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of these meaningful, significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be of significance only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences."

Parade Day

M was in the San Dimas parade today with her dance team! She loved it of course ... Luckily she got to ride in a truck, not sure how much she would have loved it had she had to walk the mile+ parade route.

Not a baby anymore!

As we were driving home today, an old Gymboree CD I use play for Makayla (when she was a baby) started playing. She, of course, remembered the words and started to sing along! I looked through the rear view mirror expecting to see a baby and then quickly realized ... she's not a baby anymore! Sigh!

she made it!

Makayla received her first acceptance letter today!  ... Last week I took her to "try out" for the San Dimas Shooting Stars Dance team.  Try out? ... Yes, she had to learn a routine in about 30 minutes and then "try out" in order to be on the team ... I think I was more nervous about the whole process than she was!  I guess this is when it all starts, no more signing her up for stuff and thinking it is a given she can participate!

We are also a little nervous about the class because it is a little far from home, but I am hoping the fact that a lot of my co-workers have their own daughters participating as well, will make it this new adventure a lot of FUN for both of us!

Dena Hills!

Visited Nana tonight! Do you love M's shirt?? ... So fresh and so clean clean!!!

We watched Mexico's version of American Idol ... M loved singing and dancing to all the cool Spanish music!

First Day of School!

M Started her first day of Pre-K today. This is her third year at St. Stephen Academy, and she is really excited about being in the "4 Year Old Class" with some of the same classmates that she has been with for 2 years now! We are so excited with all the progress she has made and are looking forward to working with her teachers and getting her ready for Kindergarten next year!

Orange County Fair

We finally made it out the OC Fair today! We purchased an all you can ride ticket for Makayla and she sure made use of it! She had no problem going on solo for most of the rides ... her favorite was the roller coaster! Here she is giving the thumbs up, she was quite excited each time she realized she met the height requirements!

Last day of swimming class!

Last day of swimming class! This is a pic of M and her swim teacher Jason after he presented he with her certificate. Highlight of her summer swim class was jumping off the diving board in the 'deep end' at the end of each class. I think I was more nervous than she was.

Are you a Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime?

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.

I was recently watching a movie and was inspired to write!  While watching I heard the following quote " People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime".  I actually read this in a book by Iyanla Vanzant (a long time ago) and from then on use to remind people of it frequently, but had forgotten to live by it myself!  I was definitely watching that movie for a reason ... definitely put some things into perspective for me!

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

We're Back!

I set this blog up over 2 years ago, but have not done a very good job of keeping it updated!  Facebook made so easy to keep in touch with family and friends that I eventually neglected our website altogether.  When I realized that there was no longer anything being archived (especially for Makayla) I knew I wanted to go back to updating family and close friends the way I had done, even before M was born.  Hopefully I will do a better job from here on in ...  Please let us know you checked in on us by leaving us a message! xoxo, cp, w and m
